NotationAI Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-03

NotationAI (“we”, “our”, or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use score composition, account sign‑in, cloud sync, subscription services (including App Store purchases and promo-code entitlements), and in-app feedback features.

Please read this policy carefully before using the app. By continuing to use NotationAI, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Scope

This policy applies to information processing activities related to your use of the app. It does not govern third‑party products/services operated under their own terms (e.g. third‑party SDK providers).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

a) Account information: such as email, display name, and user ID when you sign in or register.

b) Feedback and contact information: content, screenshots, and contact details you choose to submit via in-app feedback or email.

c) Subscription-related information: information necessary to process purchases/restores/redemptions and reflect entitlement status (for example product identifiers, transaction identifiers, expiration time, and entitlement source).

2.2 Information generated automatically

a) Device and network information: such as device model, operating system version, language/region, network type, and IP address.

b) App diagnostics and operation logs: such as crash logs, performance logs, and error logs for troubleshooting and quality improvement.

c) Local creation data: score files, folders, and preference settings are stored on your device by default.

2.3 Cloud sync and account-scoped data

When you sign in and enable sync, relevant score and folder data is transmitted to our servers to provide cross-device sync and account-scoped data management.

2.4 Product analytics (Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics)

To improve the app, we may collect aggregated, non-score-content usage data such as feature usage, screen views, crash/diagnostic-related events, device type, OS version, app version, locale preferences, and subscription tier (Free/Pro).

We do not upload score titles, lyrics, or composer names through analytics, and we do not use analytics to identify specific musical works you create.

You can turn off analytics anytime in the app under Me → Preferences → Share usage analytics. After you opt out, we stop collecting new Firebase Analytics events (except where required by law or for security).

2.5 Advertising (Google AdMob) and consent (UMP)

For non-subscriber (Free) users, we may show banner or interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. Paid subscribers (App Store subscriptions and valid promo VIP codes) do not see in-app ads.

We may use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present ad privacy choices in certain regions. The app is configured for non-personalized ads (NPA) and does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) for cross-app ad tracking.

Ad partners may process device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data under their own policies. See Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to: provide core features; maintain security and stability; handle subscriptions; improve the product through analytics (when not opted out); serve and measure ads for Free users (as permitted by law and your choices); and respond to support and legal requests.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share necessary information only when required to provide services or comply with legal obligations, including:

a) Cloud and API service providers for account authentication, data sync, feedback submission, and entitlement verification;

b) Platform/payment providers (such as Apple App Store) to process in-app purchases, restore transactions, and verify purchase status;

c) Analytics and advertising providers (Google LLC / Firebase, Google AdMob) for the purposes described in Sections 2.4 and 2.5, subject to applicable law and your choices;

d) Regulatory or legal authorities where disclosure is required by law.

5. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Score data is stored locally by default. If cloud sync is enabled, relevant account-linked data may be stored on our servers. We retain information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or to comply with applicable laws. You may request deletion via the contact options below.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Please keep your account and password secure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw certain consents. You can submit requests via in-app feedback or by email.

Product analytics: disable Share usage analytics under Me → Preferences.

Advertising: upgrade to a paid plan to remove in-app ads; you may also manage Apple ad settings under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising (where available).

Account and cloud data: signed-in users may contact us to request export or deletion of account-linked cloud data where technically feasible and legally required.

8. Children

If you are a minor, please use the app under the guidance and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this policy based on feature changes, legal requirements, or business needs. The latest version will be published in the app. Continued use of NotationAI after updates indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have questions, suggestions, or legal/privacy requests, contact us via in-app feedback or email support@staveai.com.
